Michael Milton Davis, 58 yrs. old of Gilbertsville, NY passed away on June 9, 2016 at MIB Hospital, Cooperstown, NY.

Michael was born on November 17, 1957 in New Berlin, NY the son of Milton E. & Janet K. (Sprague) Davis.  His childhood was spent in Edmeston, NY where he attended Edmeston Central School.

He is survived by three children; Janet Davis of Sherburne, Johnathon Davis and Jennifer Davis both of Morris and grandchildren; Dillon and Caleb.  He is also survived by his mother Janet, Step Father Richard Leonhardt,  sisters; Karen Lottridge and Nadine Wust as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Milton, his sister Michele Wust and his son Jeffrey.

Although no longer married, Pam Sietz Davis and Mike continued to have shared concern and love for their children.

Mike will always be remembered for his love of farming, gardening, fishing and hunting.  His children have found the same love and skills by his direction and quiet example.  Every moment spent with their Dad will always be treasured.

Mike was awarded the Carnegie Hero Award for saving the life of Tamara L. Gus in a water rescue on April 25, 1996.  This was an award stating how unselfish, brave and courageous this man was.  “When there were only one set of footprints in the sand, that’s when you carried me”.

A memorial service will be held on June 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Gilbertsville Baptist Church with calling hours from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the funeral service.  Pastor Kurt Funke will officiate.  Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Gilbertsville Baptist Church’s Potter’s Wheel fund.

Mike will be buried at Hillington Cemetery, Morris, with his son Jeffrey following the service..

Joe and I knew Mike and worked with him for years in Morris when Mike was on the farm next to us there. He was a fine young man then and his death has brought back many memories. I can see his sweet grin. I pray God's blessings on his family.
