Obituaries & Condolences

Patricia A. Brownell, 80 yrs. old of New Berlin, NY passed away on August, 28, 2017 in Norwich, NY, surrounded by her family.

Pat was born on April 6, 1937 in Bainbridge, NY the daughter of William & Charlotte (Hawkins) Haynes. Her childhood was spent in the Bainbridge, Franklin & New Berlin, NY areas, eventually settling in, raising her children in, and residing until her death, in New Berlin.

Pat was a strong believer in giving to others and her community, as was demonstrated by her membership in the New Berlin Fire Department, serving as an EMT, her time as a volunteer at Chase Nursing home where she accompanied residents on various medical appointments, the hours she donated to the Retired Senior Volunteers Program, and her membership in the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as President.

Pat is survived by her daughters: Dawn White of Binghamton, NY; Danita Washburn and her husband of 35 years, David, of Troy, Alabama; Darcy White and her partner Ron Morin of New Berlin; and her step-daughters: Betty Ann Taranto (Michael) of New Berlin & Linda Sherman of New Berlin. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Delicia Champagne of Williamsburg, VA; Andrea Douglas of New Berlin; Christine Taranto of New Berlin & Sara (Andrew) Basinski of Sudbury, MA as well as her great-grandchildren Michael, Ryan, Gabrielle, Annabelle and Alexander.

Pat was predeceased by her parents William and Charlotte (Hawkins) Haynes, her brothers Richard & Donald Haynes, her sister Joyce Hodges, the father of her three daughters, Robert White, and her husband of 33 years, Charles Brownell.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 12:00-2:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, NY. A memorial service will follow the calling hours at 2:00 PM, also at the funeral home, with Reverend Richard Anderson officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Frank H. Arnold American Legion Post 348, New Berlin, NY.

The interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin, NY at the convenience of the family.

My deepest sympathy to Dawn, Danita, and Darcy. You mom was one of my days Preferred ladies! When he had his first heart attack she came to the house when he was sent home from work ill before the ambulance was called. My father didn't want to go to the hospital and she told him to stop being a baby! I am always grateful for her no-nonsense with my father as we had him 17 more years due to her service to others! I also service with her in the New Berlin Fire Department Ambulance Squad. She was a great member! May she now have rest in peace! Thinking of you all Dawn, Danita, and Darcy and your families!
