Obituaries & Condolences

R. Gordon Wheeler, 82yrs. old of the Town of New Berlin passed away on October 16, 2019 at MIB Hospital, Cooperstown, NY.

Gordon was born on April 13, 1937 in Edmeston, NY the son of Robert M. & Doris (Vunk) Wheeler.  His childhood was spent in the Edmeston area.  He was a graduate of Edmeston Central School and Broome Community College. He was an avid golfer who shot competitive skeet, loved cooking on the grill, gardening, hunting and fishing.

On July 27, 1957 he married Patricia Alger at the Leonardsville Methodist Church. 

Gordon was employed at Amphenol in Sidney, NY as a chemical engineer in the materials lab.  He was later employed by NYCM Insurance as an underwriter.

In addition to his wife Patricia, Gordon is survived by his son; Douglas Wheeler of Guilford, NY, daughter; Cynthia Patterson (Ken Killam) of Morris, NY, grandson; Robert Paul Wheeler of Green Valley AZ, sister; Dixie Wheeler of Orange City, FL as well as several cousins.

There will be no services.

The interment will be held in the Edmeston Union Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the New Berlin Fire Department or the Chenango County SPCA, Norwich, NY.

Gordie was such a great friend. Our Fri. nite Supper Club won"t be the same without him. He was quite the joke teller (some were good, and some were bad!!!!!. Our thoughts and prayers are with my best friend, Pat, and her family. Gordie will surely be missed. We love you, Pat.
