Obituaries & Condolences

Alfred Johnson, 79 yrs. old of South New Berlin, NY passed away on April 19, 2020 in Binghamton, NY.

He was born on July 28, 1940 in Nyack, NY the son of Alfred & Hilda (Polvinen) Johnson. 

Al’s childhood was spent in Peterson’s Shipyard and Valley Cottage.  He was in the Air Force for 4 years working as a mechanic.  He later worked as a self-employed mechanic in West Nyack, NY.   He owned & put together a 36 Chevy and a 52 Willys army jeep.  When he was young, he shot and killed a bear which still hangs on the wall to this day.

Al loved NASCAR.  His favorite drivers were Dale Earnhart Sr. & Jr.  He loved all animals and enjoyed sitting around a campfire with friends and family.  He especially loved all of his grandchildren.

Al married his wife, Debra Johnson on October 26, 2002.  She survives him.

He is also survived by his daughters; Lori Leseberg & family of Bradenton, FL & Debbie Scialabbo & family of Marlton, NJ as well as his sons; Kenny Cade & his wife Melissa with their 2 dog’s Riley & Mickey of Canajoharie, NY and Michael McSharry of AZ.

Al was predeceased by his son Alan Johnson 7 years ago and will be buried next to him in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, New Berlin, NY.

Al was loved by his family who will miss him forever.  “I will miss you Al like crazy, love always, Deb”.
