It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Carlotta June Iannello (Nee: Gallup), of New Berlin, NY on August 22nd, 2021 at the young age of 79 years. Carlotta passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, knowing she was loved and cherished. 

Carlotta is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ross “Skip” Iannello, and her five children and their spouses; Charles (Dorothy) Iannello, Suzanne Nogaret, Lisa (Michael) Iannello/Wesolowski, Joseph (Michele) Iannello and Julia (Matthew) Iannello/Sanford. She was blessed with five grandchildren; Evan Wesolowski, Sara Nogaret, Josh Nogaret, Paul Iannello, Grayden Iannello and two step-grandchildren; Leah (Shane) Long and Michael (Sarah) Barber, as well as four step-great-grandchildren; Levi and Jacob Barber; Noah, Grayson and Ellie Long. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews; Kathleen Iannello, Andrew Iannello Dalton, Billy (Fely) Iannello, John Iannello, Christopher (Jacqui) Iannello, Tom (JoAnne) Maiurro, Chris (Kathryn) Maiurro, Jennifer (Anthony) Zignauskas; and all their children.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Jon Nogaret; her brother John Gallup; and her parents, Frances Gallup Palmer and Lewis Gallup.
Carlotta was born at Oneida Hospital on June 8th, 1942 and was raised in Earlville, NY where she attended and graduated from Earlville Central School in 1960. It was here she met Ross in the 9th grade and they’ve been together ever since. She was a member of the Ink Spot, the high school newspaper, which she talked about with much pride. Carlotta attended the Central City Business Institute (CCBI) in Syracuse, NY before marrying Ross on October 20th, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Hamilton, NY. They honeymooned in Bermuda after Ross saw a picture of a sunset over a beach that Carlotta saved and dreamed of traveling to. Together they operated a large family dairy farm with Ross’s family in Smyrna, NY and started their own family; two things Carlotta wanted most.

When Chuck, Sue and Lisa were toddlers, Carlotta and Ross moved to a farm in New Berlin across the street from Ross’s brother, Bill. They eventually started a successful family Real Estate Business, which is currently operated by their two oldest children. Carlotta was devoted to the family business, farm and children but also found time to volunteer and serve her community. She has a long-time affiliation with St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in New Berlin where she had been a member of the Altar Rosary Society for many years. Through St. Theresa’s, she was instrumental in ecumenical efforts for the community, such as the soup kitchen and the Helping Hands group. Most recently, she was proud of her efforts to secure the church nativity scene, which is on display every Christmas season.

In 2018, Carlotta received the Immaculata Award for Service Medal from the Diocese of Syracuse NY, an award she was very honored by, for her countless years of devotion to her church. She was always looking to the future and had composed letters and gathered information to construct a new Catholic Church for St. Theresa’s. During her early years living in New Berlin,

Carlotta was a member of the Jaycee’s Club focused on civic leadership, worked many years for the Board of Elections, and was instrumental in the building of the village gazebo in New Berlin, as well as countless other community projects close to her heart not listed here. Carlotta was a member of the New Berlin Art Forum for over 30 years, bringing performing arts to our rural community. The Art Forum dedicated a recent season to her, of which she was very proud. Many of you will remember Carlotta for her sense of style, love of life, overflowing flower and vegetable gardens which she loved to share, hand-painted Christmas cards, and beautiful May Day baskets she would leave at your doorstep. We will remember her for our large family gatherings, Sunday brunches and endless support whenever it was needed. She truly loved her family and her group of close friends. She was a beacon of support for all of us and will be missed. 

Calling hours for Carlotta will be at Dakin Funeral Home in New Berlin on Friday, August 27th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Mass at St. Theresa’s in New Berlin will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with Father Matt Lyons presiding. A gathering will immediately follow at Carlotta and Ross’s home, 4266 Rte 8. There will also be a private family graveside service for Carlotta at her final resting place, near her beloved Grandparents, at West Hill Cemetery in Sherburne, NY.
