James Nostrand, 79 yrs. old of South New Berlin, NY passed away on December 5, 2021 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, New York.

Jim (known to most as Grumpy) was born on December 14, 1941 to Russell and Elizabeth (Spahn) Nostrand in Lakeview, NY. Leaving Malverne School at 16, he started working to help support his family. In the earlier years he worked at various occupationsincluding factory work, Carl's Candy Store, Grossman’s Farm, and delivering papers until joining Malverne DPW in 1967 where he worked for 30 years until his retirement.

In 1969 he met Theresa Gannon at Bingo and they wed in 1972. They had their only child, TerryAnn (Greco) in 1975. After retiring, Jim moved his wife and daughter upstate to South New Berlin, NY to be near his Mother and siblings. Jim was predeceased by his parents Russell & Elizabeth, brothers; Russell "Skipper" Nostrand, Herb Nostrand, Nicky Lascala and sister; Diane Nostrand Cassidy.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Theresa, daughter TerryAnn, grandchildren; Pamela & Charlie Greco who he raised as his own since they were born. Jim is also survived by his sisters; Janie Burtis of Norwich and her family, Wendy & Ron Stalloch of Florida, Terry & Carl Convis of New Berlin and her family and Elizabeth & Michael Binelli of Norwich and her family.Jim had numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that he loved.

The family would also like to include all of Jim’s grandchildren’s friends whom he cherished over the years as they thought of him as another Grandpa. Jim loved being outdoors but also enjoyed crafts, taking care of his home, and his loved ones.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 -6:00 PM on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP, New Berlin, NY.
