Kenneth A Cassidy, 82, of New Berlin NY has passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 02, 2022.

Ken was born on January 16th, 1939 in Brooklyn NY to Edith (Reed) and Joseph Cassidy

He was predeceased by his two sisters, Ruth Cassidy (Lanfair) and Barbara Cassidy (Utter) and his brother Walter Cassidy.  He is survived by his sister Rita (Mark) Miles and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Ken was a beloved father and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his three children; daughter, Lois Cassidy, Apalachin NY, his sons, Dale (Lisa) Cassidy, Hume NY and Wyatt Cassidy Hume, NY as well as, 6 grandchildren; Dustin (Michelle) Cassidy, Jaron Cassidy, Alyssa Cassidy, Forrest Gallo, Caleb Cassidy and Corey Cassidy; and 4 great grandchildren; Kade, Jaxen,, Lucas and Kelsey. 

Ken moved to New Berlin in 1957. He served in the US Navy as Radioman class A from 1961-1965. He developed a lifelong love of radios and communications working as a telephone switch man for Contel telephone until his retirement in 1991. 

Ken was a member and previous officer and trustee of the Chenango Valley Amateur Radio Association (CVARA). He also ran the Volunteer Examination (VE) program and was active with the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) program for many years.  He was proud of his many HAM radio connections, and made many connections with other HAM enthusiasts around the world under his call letters WN2WNC. 

The funeral service will be held, Saturday January 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin. Calling hours will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the funeral service.

The interment will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Susquehanna SPCA.

Sorry to hear of Ken's passing, but know he is in a better place now. Ken was a good friend and compatriot as we progressed through life's blessings and set-backs.God Bless the family at this time of loss.  Ken will surely be missed by all who had known him.
