Clyde B. Lilley, 88 yrs. old of New Berlin, NY passed away on December 18, 2022, at MIB Hospital, Cooperstown, NY.
Clyde was born on June 25, 1934, in Gilbertsville, NY the son of Merton & Marion (Olmstead) Lilley. His childhood was spent in the Gilbertsville area where he attended Gilbertsville Central School. He served in the United States Airforce from 1952-1960 during the Korean Conflict and later became a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor serving the New Berlin Area.
Clyde took great care of his family and loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much. He especially enjoyed seeing his grandchildren before they went to school and liked telling them his “tall tales”. In his spare time, he loved fishing, playing cards, watching western movies, working on crossword or jigsaw puzzles, and camping at Cold Springs Camp and you’d never see him without his cowboy boots.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara (Williams) Curtis Lilley, his children; Bridgett (Bret) Fisk of Sidney, NY, Brad (Audrey) Lilley of Fayetteville, NC and Mark (Deneen) Lilley of Cape Vincent, NY, step-children; Cindy Kendall of New Port, RI, Sonja Boehner, and Rick (Wendy) Curtis of Pittsfield, grandchildren; Amanda (Mark) Tuller, Jake (Jenna) Curtis, Christine (Seth) Greenia, Colleen Leddy, Brandie Moore, Bret (Kirthi) Lilley and Nicole (David) Quintana, several great grandchildren, brothers; Wayne (Doni) Lilley & Keith (Barbara) Lilley and sisters; Jean (Don) Gilbert and Sherry Lilley.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann (Haggerty) “Bootsie” Lilley in 1974. He was also predeceased by his stepson Robert (Sonja) Curtis and brothers, Bruce & Warren (Peg) Lilley and sisters, Bettey (Ted) Haynes, Virginia (June) Vanvaulkeurg and Marilyn (Paul) Ennggarrd.
A memorial service will be held on June 25, 2023. Additional details will follow.

Again my memory to recall another friend from my days in New Berlin as Mgr. of Victory Mkts..
I knew Clyde by reputation only through Barbara his faithful mate while she would attend to shopping for the family groceries.
It doesn't seem possible so much time has expired since my departure from the market but still remember many, many folks during my tenure.
Barbara please know there is no more pain, no more suffering and Clyde is now with a loving and caring God. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I remember Uncle Clyde giving my sisters and I a dollar every time we made high honor in school. It was also fun to listen to stories he, my dad and their sisters and brothers would tell about growing up on the farm when we were gathered at Grandma Lilley’s. My condolences to the family. He will be missed.
