Jim Wilcox, 70 yrs. old of Brookfield, NY passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital, Utica, NY after a brief illness on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

He was a family oriented man who enjoyed hunting, watching auto racing and college basketball.  He loved watching his grandchildren play softball, soccer and basketball.  They were his pride and joy. 

Jim graduated from Brookfield Central School in 1969.   He played several sports which included baseball, basketball, football and bowling.  Has very proud of his 1969 high school basketball team going undefeated (21-0) and winning their title.  He also tried out for the Kansas City Royals in 1971.  He retired from Kraft Foods in South Edmeston, NY.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lynette (Simmons) Wilcox and his children Matt Wilcox (Tanya) of Brookfield, Brad Wilcox (Brynley) of Waterville, grandchildren; Olyvia Wilcox, Aiden Wilcox, Charley Wilcox and Tanner Wilcox, his brother, Bill Wilcox (Marge) of Brookfield and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.

He was predeceased by his son Chad Wilcox in 2010, his parents, Junior & Bernice Wilcox of Brookfield and his father and mother in-law, “Buster” Renrick & Doris Simmons of South Edmeston.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP, 17 North Main Street, New Berlin, NY 13411.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, with Pastor Mark Thall officiating.  The interment will follow at the South Brookfield Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the Brookfield Fire Department, 10517 Main St. Brookfield, NY  13314.

Sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Always enjoyed our conversations. He was a great neighbor to our camp and always kept an eye out for us. He will be truly missed.Unfortunately I will be out of state this next week for his services. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
