Obituaries & Condolences

Joyce A. Spencer Duda passed away on November 16, 2023.

She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Mildred, brothers Howard and Dick, father of her four boys, Edward Spencer Sr. and her oldest son, Edward Spencer Jr.

Joyce was a stay-at-home Mom for many years.  During this time, one of the many things she did was to teach herself how to knit and crochet. Over the years, she made many useful and beautiful keepsakes.  She also planted and tended large vegetable gardens and canned lots of veggies and fruit.  One of the family favorites were her Dilly Beans, enjoyed by each generation.

Once her boys were older, she worked at Marathon Christian Academy for several years.  She influenced many young lives during this time.  Joyce then made a move to Norwich where she worked and retired after 20 years from Norwich Hospital as an executive secretary.

Joyce’s wit, wisdom, and unconditional love will be missed greatly by all.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bob, Her sister Barbara, her sons, Jack (Wanda), Jerry, Errol (Carmen) and daughter-in-law Rhonda.  As well as her much loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joyce, Your infectious laugh, life stories, wise conversations and caring soul will be so very missed. You loved with your entire heart and cared deeply for your loved ones. I know we will see each other again some day and I am so thankful for that. God has promised His children this and I am blessed you were a Godly women. Thank you for raising the man I call my husband, Errol Spencer. He is an amazing man, Father and friend. I know you are finally at peace and with all your loved ones who have gone on before you. Rest easy Joyce Miller- Spencer.
