Donald Baird

Donald R. Baird passed away on August 26, 2021 at his home in Milton, Delaware.

He was born on July 24, 1943, son of Florence and Donald Baird and spent his childhood in Otego where he graduated from High School . He enjoyed playing sports during his years at school and then enlisted in the US Navy where he served our country for four years. Returning home from the service he met Marina Hall in Oneonta and they were married on July 1, 1967.

Don worked for the New York Telephone Company in Oneonta for 35 years and then drove the Circle of life Ambulette in Oneonta for 10 years. He and his wife Marina then moved to Lewes, Delaware where he drove the BeBe Hospital Ambulette transporting patients for 10 years. He was also a volunteer at the BeBe Hospital Treasure Chest Thrift Store. He was a member and Deacon of The New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lewes, Delaware.

Don was noted for his sense of humor and always had a joke to entertain his friends, patients and family. No family event was complete without "Poppy." He was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Besides his wife Don is survived by his four children: Susan (Dan) Cuozzo of Lewes, DE, Richard (Melanie) of Oneonta, NY, DJ (Lise) of Unadilla, NY and Robert (Liz) of Denver, CO, grandchildren: Jessica, Alden, Ben, Claire, Zachary, Marina, Logan and Mila. A great-grandson, Joseph Donald, was born on September 2021.

A service was held at the new Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lewes, Delaware on September 25, 2021. A committal Service will take place on October 2, 2021 at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery with First United Methodist Minister Penny
Harrington officiating.
