Paul “Howard” Crandall, 91, of Handsome Brook Court, Sherburne, N.Y . passed away Wednesday evening, January 16, 2019 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. Born at home on January 28, 1927 on the Crandall Farm, Allen Hill, Taylor, NY to Fred and Edna Crandall.

Paul was predeceased by all siblings and both parents. Growing up he attended the Taylor Center Methodist Church (one room schoolhouse /Church combo followed by completed High School in Cincinnatus. On October 18, 1963 he married Dorothy Crandall who survives him.

Paul was drafted by the United States Marines and served his country from 1951-54 during the Korean Conflict where he was a crewman teaching other marines how to operate amphibious vehicles (DUKW). His decorations included a National Defense Service Medal.

During his life time, Paul was self-employed as a business owner in the surrounding counties including several gas stations, C & C used cars, and a salvage yard. For a period of time he worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway building bridges and dams.

Paul enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing pitch, dancing and cars of any kind. He also loved music. He never met a stranger and many business deals were done over a cold Genny. He loved writing, word puzzles, reading and watching the news.

During his life he was blessed with thirteen children. Paul is survived by many relatives, including nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Calling hours start at 11 AM followed by the funeral at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, 17 North Main St., New Berlin, NY at 1 PM on Monday, January 21, 2019. A luncheon will be held at the Chase Memorial Community Center, Hill Street, New Berlin, NY following the funeral.
