Larry Hubert Daniels 84 yrs. old of the Town of Columbus; passed away on May 1, 2016 at the Chase Nursing Home in New Berlin, NY.

Larry was born on June 2, 1931 at the family farm in the Town of New Berlin the son of Hubert Charles & Gladys Wightman Daniels.    He married Madeline Violet Harrington on August 30, 1952 in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

His childhood was spent in South New Berlin on the family farm on the Great Brook Road.  He attended South New Berlin Central School.  He later received his GED and attended Herkimer Community College.  He also earned his broker license and real estate license.  He served in the US Marine Corp from 1952-1954 and then served in the reserves until 1960.

Larry worked for Met Life Insurance, receiving the President’s Award for sales.  He also worked as a salesman for Nationwide Insurance, as a loss control engineer for Kemper Insurance and for the City of Norwich as a new building inspector.  He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, the NRA and the Columbus Gun Club.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapping, painting many pictures and watching his sons play sports.  He enjoyed hat collecting.

He is survived by his three sons; Mark Hubert Daniels & Julia Remmard Daniels of Summefield, Fl., Brent Kenneth Daniels & Carol Bunk Daniels of Orlando, Fl. and Kent Larry Daniels and Noreen Mulhern Daniels of Jacksonville Beach, Fl. as well as five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister; Virginia Thomsen and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Columbus Community Church, Columbus, NY with Reverend Stephen Reese officiating.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, NY.

Memorial donations may be made to the Columbus Community Church Mission Fund.
