Burr Gross

d. December 30, 2022

Burr H. Gross, 87, of Pittsfield, NY passed away peacefully Friday, December 30, 2022, in his home surrounded by family.

He was born December 9, 1935, the son of Wilbur and Ida Card Gross in Earlville, NY. After graduating from Earlville High School in 1953 he joined the Air Force, was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, then honorably discharged in 1957. He returned to New Berlin, NY and began working at the Victory grocery store where he met his future wife, Joyce Potter. They have resided in Pittsfield for 58 of their 63 years together.

Burr worked as a chemical operator at Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals and Procter & Gamble for 33 years from 1964-1997.   He enjoyed camping, socializing with friends and doing his best to win a card or board game whether with family or friends. After retirement, he looked forward to visiting friends, eating out, and shuffle boarding at their winter home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Burr’s passion throughout his life was watching modified dirt track racing. He was a weekend regular and familiar face at many of the local dirt racetracks over the past 50 years.

Burr is survived by his wife Joyce (Potter) and their three sons, Randy (Debbie Paglino), Rick (Karla Villarica) and Rob (Jackie Hatton), five granddaughters Melissa and Amanda, Kaylee and Abbey, and Amy, and four great grandchildren Brady, Madison, Drew, and Juliana.

A Celebration of Life for Burr will be held Sunday, January 8 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Chobani Community Center located in the New Berlin Firehouse.
