Joyce I. Ray

April 21, 1945 — October 9, 2024

New Berlin, NY

Beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Joyce Ray, sadly passed away on October 9, 2024 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton at the age of 79 years old.

Joyce was born on April 21, 1945 in Brookfield. On July 23, 1962, Joyce married the love of her life, Paul. They shared 49 happy years together before his passing in 2012. In most recent years, she shared her life with her companion Al Turner.

Together, Joyce and Paul built a loving home and raised two sons: Paul Lewis (deceased 1979) and Joe (Theresa) Ray from New Berlin. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to include her grandchildren, Kayla (fiancé Will Winn) from Sauquoit and Joseph Ray, and of course, Queenie her four-legged love.

Throughout her life, Joyce worked many different occupations. But most recently she worked at Pathfinder Village for 11 years doing Food Service where she retired in 2012.

Joyce was full of nothing but love and kindness. She touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving behind a void her family will never be able to fill. She cherished all her relationships, but she especially cherished her relationship with her grandchildren Kayla and Joseph. From all the talks and camp adventures to trips to the fair, and everything in between, each moment and memory will be kept near and dear to everyone’s hearts. You knew if you crossed paths with her, whether that was on the phone or on the street, you’d be there a while. She loved to talk!

She is survived by her son Joe (Theresa) Ray of New Berlin, her grandchildren, and brother Arnie (Cindy) Maxson of Woodstock. She is predeceased by her sisters Patricia (Richard) Benjamin of Burlington Green, Annie Turner of Waterville, Margaret Benedict of Norwich and two brothers Fred (Evelyn) Maxson of New Berlin, Dave (Jeanie) Maxson of South New Berlin.

To honor Joyce's wishes there will be no services.
