John L. Lebenick,
83 yrs old, formerly of New Berlin, NY

Ppassed away on December 12, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Reading, PA.

John was born on September 4, 1930 in New York City, the son of John and Mary (Cesen) Lebenick.

After graduating from New Berlin Central School in 1949, John went to Farmingdale Agricultural and Technical College for two years.  In 1952, he was drafted into the army and was stationed in Germany.  After returning from the service, he went to Michigan Mining and Technical College in Houghton, MI and attained a Civil Engineering degree.  John went to New York City for a few years and was a draftsman working on buildings and bridges.  He later moved to West Lawn, PA where he lived for most of his adult life, continuing on in the same field.

John had many varied interests.  He loved to play golf and was an avid bike rider and racer having won some awards when competing in senior division races.  He was also into photography, often developing the photos himself.  He collected electronic equipment of all kinds.  He often spent time at flea markets and collected some antiques.  He enjoyed opera and classical music.

John was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary (Victor) Dispensa and her husband.  He is survived by his brother, Frank Lebenick of New Berlin, NY; sister, Josephine (Robert) Melmer of Oneonta, NY; and sister, Rosalie Lebenick of Merrick, NY; nieces Marilyn Dispensa of Ithaca, NY and Carol Mignone of East Islip NY; and nephews Robert Melmer of Black Canyon City, AZ, and James Dispensa of West Hempstead, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP, New Berlin, NY with Father Lester Smith officiating.  Calling hours will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM prior to the funeral service.

The interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin, NY.
