Margie Sikes

Margie Elizabeth Hobson Sikes, 83 yrs. old of New Berlin & Edmeston, NY passed away on February 14, 2021 at the Cooperstown Center Nursing Home.

Margie was born on February 11, 1938 in New Berlin, NY the daughter of Robert & Beatrice (Dwyer) Hobson.  Her childhood was spent in the New Berlin area.  She was a graduate of New Berlin Central School and a member of the First Baptist Church of New Berlin.  After graduation she was employed by New York Central Mutual and later on, as a house aid for Pathfinder Village for over 20 years.  She adored the residents in her house and treated them as if they were her own.

Margie loved a good cup of coffee, keeping in touch with former classmates, a road or shopping trip and taking care of her gardens.  Her family was her pride and joy.  She always looked forward to birthdays and holiday gatherings.  Time with her granddaughter was especially treasured.  Her generous heart and warm spirit will be missed.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Mark (Joe) and Nancy Sikes of Oneonta; daughter-in-law; Tammy Sikes and granddaughter Christiana Sikes of Cicero, NY.

She was predeceased by her son, Michael Sikes and brother, Robert Hobson.

Services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP, New Berlin, NY with Lay Minister, Penny Harrington officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 12:00 -1:00 PM prior to the funeral service.

The interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the SPCA of Norwich, NY.
