Mark I. Spooner
66 yrs. old of the Town of Pitsfiled, NY

An awesome man, Mark I. Spooner stepped into Heaven on Saturday, November 30, 2013 to be with his Lord.  Mark was born on July 4, 1947 in the town of Edmeston, NY, the son of Henry I. and Elsie M. (Williams) Spooner.  He was married to Patricia Parker on November 24, 1993.  He spent his childhood in the West Edmeston / Leonardsville area and graduated from Leonardsville Centeral School in 1965.  During his lifetime he was a farmer, having his own farm.  He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for Richard Hanna in the Utica area, working on the polar bear exhibit at the Utica Zoo, among other projects.  He was also a logger, and as a sideline, built a number of log homes.  He attended Pine Crest Bible School and proceeded to become an ordained minister.  Mark became involved with two rehabilitation centers in Virginia, the Otsego County Jail Ministry, and went on mission trips to Haiti for sixteen years.
During his life he tried to be a friend to all.
This was especially exhibited during his hospitalization when he was visited by Pentecostals, Baptists, Mennonites, Amish and Quakers who all wanted to pray with him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four sisters; Janet (Robert) Anderson, Rita (Earl) Goodrich, Christine (Donald) Taylor, and Lori (Jeff) Guido; two daughters; Paula (Robert) Welsh, Michelle (Jamie) Denkenberger, one son; Capt. David (Candy) Spooner, a stepdaughter, Rebecca (Michael) Wheeler, eleven grandchildren whom he loved, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 3:00 – 5:00 PM with the funeral at 6:00 PM immediately followed by a celebration of his life on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the South Edmeston Community Center.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice or Mark’s Haiti mission work c/o the South Edmeston Community Church.
